In keeping with our commitment to interpreter education, Magna Voce, LLC proudly co-sponsored two recent events: the East Coast Translators and Interpreters Summit and the 1st Mid-Atlantic Medical Interpreters Meeting.
The East Coast Translators and Interpreters Summit, a first for the Delaware Valley Translators Association, DVTA, was well attended. Held on September 10 at La Salle University, the Summit offered several educational sessions presented by nationally recognized speakers. The presentations included topics such as forensic transcription translation, ethics for medical interpreters, productivity strategies for freelancers, and interpreting for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse. The educational sessions were awarded CEU credit by Administrative Offices of the Courts of Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware. Kudos to the DVTA for a successful and rewarding event! The 1st Mid-Atlantic Medical Interpreters Meeting was held at the Christiana Hospital John H. Ammon Medical Education Center on October 1. The event offered 5 CEU credits awarded by CCHI. The topics presented were timely and instructive. Topics touched on addressing informed consent barriers for LEP and minority populations, research evidence in language access and medical interpreting, and interpreting for organ transplant patients. All speakers were leaders in their medical fields and advocates for equal access to healthcare. It was certainly a gratifying event for all who attended. Great effort by the organizers!
We at Magna Voce hope to be able to continue sponsoring events locally and regionally as complement and support to our interpreter education workshops.
We are hard at work developing new workshops. We have heard your requests, new and seasoned interpreters, and look forward to delivering worthwhile workshops in 2017.
Thank you for your continued support.
