Tell me about Magna Voce

4/7/2015

We attended, and co-sponsored, the Delaware Valley Translators Association’s End of Winter Lunch on Sunday, March 22. What a pleasure it was to see many colleagues - old and new – and to have an opportunity to network!

At the event, we were asked to describe our courses and what, if anything, differentiated them from other course offerings. We thought we’d share our response with you.

Magna Voce pays special attention to teaching methodology and to the teaching of interpretation as an academic discipline. The workshops, therefore, are a balanced combination of theoretical principles and skills practice. We focus on three fundamental areas: the development of a conscious awareness of the linguistic structures of the working languages; the discussion of the cognitive process and ethics of interpretation; and the gradual practical application of these concepts. It is not about just practicing, it is about practicing with reflection. It is about providing a foundation of knowledge and attitudes that ultimately allow us to speak the language of interpretation as true professionals.

And we manage to have some fun while we work hard.

Take a minute to look at our offerings for the spring. There is something for everyone!

Be well,
Catalina and Maria
