Protocol in the Courtroom - or How to Avoid Looking Like a Tourist - PROT
This workshop will be highly interactive and it will require participant’s full involvement during guided discussions on established courtroom protocol and etiquette, their relationship to the standards of practice of professional interpreters and, ultimately, as the foundation for ethical conduct. Scenarios will be presented in a courtroom setting for participants to react to in real time. These scenarios will address basic topics such as how to handle waiting time, obtaining information about the case; and more complex areas such as mediating linguistic, technical and interpersonal issues.
